Sharing Our Blessings at Thanksgiving

The Thanksgiving holiday is one day a year that we as a nation intentionally and consciously stop fretting over  the busyness at work or worrying about the newness of our smart phones and, instead, we count our blessings. One blessing that I admit to often overlooking is having access to enough nutritious food to sustain me; but this time of year it's more important than ever to remember that millions of Americans (1 in 6, in fact) do not have enough to eat.
In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, the need for food is even more pressing. Luckily, there are wonderful nonprofits across this country whose mission it is to lessen--and eventually eradicate--hunger. If you are feeling blessed this Thanksgiving, I encourage you to donate what you can, whether it be a can of food or a monetary donation, to any of the great organizations below.

Additionally, the folks from Martha Stewart created the Martha Stewart Thanks for Giving program this year as a way to raise funds for hunger-fighting nonprofits throughout the country. For more on these nonprofits, be sure to check out their details here.
The best way to honor the blessings that we are each given is to pass them along to others.
Happy Thanksgiving, friends!
