"What I'm Workin' With" Week: The Upstairs Bedrooms

Meet Me in Philadelphia meetmeinphiladelphia.blogspot.com
As we head into the end of "What I'm Workin' With" Week, the tour is winding down and today we'll stop by the bedrooms upstairs!
We are fortunate to have 3 spacious bedrooms upstairs that will eventually become children's rooms (let me reiterate, eventually) but are now used for other purposes. One of my first objectives when we moved in was to set up one as a guest bedroom, just as we had in our previous Philadelphia apartment.

If you recall, our Philadelphia guest bedroom looked identical. I'm not undertaking a big redecorating project in here because, well, I'm happy with how it all looks. There's no sense in changing it just for the sake of change. The room has already been used 3 times since we moved in and the guests all appear to like it as-is!

At the front of the house, you'll find two large bedrooms upstairs and the larger of the two is currently functioning as a library of sorts. The room is made warm and cozy by a pair of dormers with their own built-in window seats!

For this bedroom, we just transferred all of the furniture (and books, for that matter) from the den in our apartment, which was an easy transition to make.

Just across the hall from the "library" you'll find the smallest of the three upstairs bedrooms, which is the only room that the owner left painted. It's a cozy blue and it too has a dormer, as well as a side window, so light it plentiful in this space.

Currently, this room holds our "stuff" that hasn't been used/hung/put in place elsewhere in the house. As you can see, we have more space than we know what to do with (or how to fully decorate it all...), but I hope you have sensed what made us fall in love with this house during this week-long tour.

Tomorrow: our finished (!) basement and my soon-to-be craft room!

  2. Love the guest room!
My one word of advice would be to take your time. When I moved from a small house to this bigger house, I RUSHED to decorate everything. Now I am re-doing. This may be par for the course, but I wish I had waited on more purchases.
