Last Sunday, Adam and I headed out for a week-long road trip through New England. We made pit stops in Connecticut (to see my parents) and Boston (to see several friends) before spending a few days with my extended family in Maine.
Maine--"Vacationland" as it's affectionately known--is the perfect place to leisure away a few days in the summertime, even away from the state's coastline. It was unexpectedly hot and humid while we were visiting my grandmother, but we still managed to have a great time.
As it should be, there was lobster and other seafood to be had, antiques to be purchased, and sweet corn to be nibbled.
On Saturday, we left my grandmother's and headed to Portland for a day. Adam did a great job scouting our accommodations. He found a quaint, unique place in The Danforth bed and breakfast. The historic brick home struck the right balance between historical character and modern convenience.
This painting of the inn's exterior was so beautiful, hung in one of the common areas where guests could relax and enjoy the environment.
Saturday night was spent at Eventide, a renowned new restaurant where the seafood is--quite literally--right off of the boat. Even though I'm a little squeamish about the idea of a raw bar, our meal was very yummy and the service was impeccable.

Portland, and Maine in general, is a great place to visit and I'm so glad that Adam has embraced it since it is a place I spent a lot of time growing up. What a great spot to spend time in the summer.
I'm glad to be back home, though, and I hope you'll all come back this week when I'll reveal another DIY!
