The Gnomes Book of Christmas Crafts

Gnomes Book of Christmas Crafts_Meet Me in Philadelphia
The holiday season is so special to me, in part, because it's the one time of year when I feel like a kid again. Do you know the feeling? Hanging nostalgic ornaments or spending time with relatives...all the festivities remind me of how magical the season has felt to me since I was a kid.

Recently I found a copy of The Gnomes Book of Christmas Crafts and it filled me with childlike delight. Let me tell you all about it!

In October, I lucked into finding this vintage book--originally published in 1980--at a thrift store for a dollar. Something about gnomes make me smile...maybe it's all that time I spent watching "The World of David the Gnome" as a little girl? Combining these magical little men with crafts and The Gnomes Book of Christmas Crafts had my name all over it.

Let's take a peek inside, shall we?

The book is 150+ pages of sewing, woodworking and baking projects with an adorable, not-so-serious gnome theme. Inspired by the book Gnomes by Wil Huygen, all of the crafts are detailed, paired with patterns and are perfect for the woodsy vacation home where you'll be spending Christmas (wink, wink).

Like what you see? I scanned a few pages of the gnome images in the book to share. Wouldn't they make a cute, woodsy addition to gift tags, a garland or wrapping paper under the tree?

Am I the only one who gets a chuckle from looking at these little guys?

P.S. Come by tomorrow for my second Christmas craft of the year!

  2. Ashley, my aunt had a copy of the Gnomes book when we were kids and we used to spend hours combing over it. These illustrations bring back so many great memories. You should get the original book too. A great thing to leave on the coffee table.

I didn't know this book existed! Will have to see if I can find it on Amazon.
