My New--but Antique--Rug

Antique rug in dark blue den via Meet Me in Philadelphia
I'm off to a late start this morning--potentially good things are a-brewin'--but I had to make time to share my recent purchase: a beautiful and well-worn antique rug now living in the den.

No room is really ever done as far as I'm concerned. Spaces, like the people that occupy them, are dynamic and that's just the case with our den, which we ostensibly finished last fall.  There have been a few minor tweaks (as it is our primary hang-out), like a new TV and sound bar, a soon-to-be-recovered footstool for the reupholstered parlor chair, and (now) this antique rug.

On Monday afternoon, I stopped into one of my favorite Main Line thrift shops and walked out with this rug. It's not perfect. There is wear and some tattering that suggest its age, but I kind of love that. This piece feels right at home among the other elements in the room.

Its colors--coral, navy, cream and a touch of green--were already present in the room, so this purchase felt like a no-brainer. Maybe this rug and this den were just meant to be.
