My Guest Bedroom: Tortoise Bedside Tables

Today, I wanted to continue chatting about my guest bedroom, specifically a bit about the nightstands I found for it. But first, I wanted to thank everyone for your lovely comments on the new built-in shelving in the guest bedroom. You all know how to make a gal feel good!

When planning my guest bedroom redecoration, I searched high and low for bedside tables that complemented my intended aesthetic: muted, natural, with a worldly accent. What a challenge that was! Everything I was seeing was incredibly expensive, not real wood, or just kind of blah. I discovered this mango wood end table from Overstock.com with a finish that reminded me of mottled tortoiseshell and fell head over heels for them. I'm glad I jumped on ordering them because they're now out of stock!
Aren't they pretty?
(a photo-repeat from yesterday--just to give you a sense of the tables in situ)

The tables are on the shorter side, but I like that. I'm happy with them because I also know that, given the finish and size of the tables, they will work well throughout my home.
What do you think? Do you see the resemblance to a mottled tortoiseshell finish?

  1. I totally think they look like tortoiseshell! In fact, I thought you were about to give us a fabulous tutorial on how to get the look ourselves. Oh well. They look fabulous in your guest room, and you're absolutely right about how versatile they will be in another home one day. Smart girl! :)

  2. they look tortoiseshell to me, I love them! If you wanted to add a smidge height while still having them work in other places of your house you could look into getting brass cup casters for the feet. I only mention them because I've been searching for a place to use them in my house, I love them! Anyway, you could always remove the caster part down the road if you wanted to lower them again.
Totally thinking out loud and rambling now, ignore me :)
