Fall Comes to Our Front Door (Thanks to Terrain)

Meet Me in Philadelphia meetmeinphiladelphia.blogspot.com
Let me preface this post by stating that I never win any contest, giveaway or raffle I enter. Ever.

But about two weeks ago I got lucky...no, not like that. I'm talking about winning something.
I got an email from the über-popular Joanna Goddard of A Cup of Jo announcing that I had won her recent $200 Terrain gift card giveaway! What the what?!?

Needless to say, I was thrilled. Awestruck. Dumbfounded. Excited! My winnings went a long way to bringing fall to our front doorstep and, today, I'll tell you all about it.

Before we can talk about what I bought, allow me to point out the changes we made to our front landscape to enhance our curb appeal. We tackled our front yard recently and, with a bit of pent up frustration, I insisted we remove a scraggly bush at the right side of our front entry.

With the bush gone, our front entry could take center stage...

Now, you're probably curious about my $200 Terrain gift card winnings. The photo above shows our new pair of the rimmed fiberclay cube planters from Terrain. I opted for the smallest size, but they are sizable enough to make a major impact.

The planters look great from every angle. And they will definitely transition well from season to season. I also came home with a few sprigs of cotton from Terrain to combine with pine cones and grapevine for an autumn wreath.

In the years to come, it's my priority to majorly change out front door/remove the one sidelight (a big pet peeve of mine), add a more grand feeling with a larger door surround and add carriage lights to either side of the door.

Autumn has arrived and I'm so glad to be able to decorate our front door and steps with a touch of my favorite season. You like?

P.S. This post is a reminder that, as the Connecticut Lottery used to say, "you can't win if you don't play".

  1. Nice touches and a great move taking out that bush. It's amazing what changes like that can do. And how awesome to win that contest! Picking up those planters was a great investment too - you'll be able to do so much with them. I really enjoy catching up on your posts - seeing you transform your home. I think part of me is envious that we aren't moving as quickly ;)

  6. Fabulous planters, Ashley. Congrats! If I could chose one and only store from which to win a giveaway, it would be Terrain. Perhaps School House Electric, as a close second. :)

How gorgeous is your front entry with all that beautiful stone? I don't mind seeing the one sidelight, but will tell you that I'm already envisioning a set of french doors there in a bold Ashley Red. How glamorous would you feel sweeping them open when visitors arrive?
