Sometimes, it's fun to craft just for the sake of crafting and that's just what I did earlier this week. I felt the urge to add a little fall feeling indoors so, with the simple addition of some paint and inexpensive craft supplies, I created a harvest tablescape in our kitchen.
I had few coupons for JoAnn Fabrics, where I picked up a package of kraft paper mache gourds, a bag of poly-fabric leaves and a bottle of Martha Stewart's craft paint in copper.
The gourds and leaves got a healthy coat of copper--a hue that looks like an autumn sky.
I admit, I wasn't quite sure where I was going with this craft when I started; the metallic gourds and leaves were just a fun diversion for awhile. But with the paint dry, it all came together: I'd make a centerpiece for our kitchen table.
Combined with our Heath Ceramic plates, an antique wooden bowl, and pine cone napkins I made last December, the result is a welcoming, fall-like table.
Now, who wants to come over for a cozy dinner party? What are you crafting this weekend?
