Are you tired of hearing about our living room yet? Well sorry, friends, you'll have to get used to it because it's the one space in our house that's getting a lot of my attention. Today, I thought it would be fun to chat about fabric choices for our tufted sofa.
The current mauve velvet on the sofa is not staying, so I got to work ordering several samples of cotton velvets from various online fabric stores. There are a lot of good options for less than $20/yard out there(which is a good price according to interior design maven Emily Henderson)! At first I thought I wanted a really neutral sofa, so I ordered samples in cream, beige and silver...but I realized that blue can function as a neutral, too.
Can you guess which color I'm going with?
Yep, a nice blue with a hint of gray.
The color plays off the salmon velvet that covers the box cushion bench, as well as working with the Greek embroidered cloth that's atop a round table in the living room.
Once the tufted sofa is decked out in this yummy blue velvet, I think the room will feel a bit less feminine. I'm going to keep the skirt on our sofa, but have it extend to the floor because our sofa looks like it's preparing for a flood.
Really, what I'm going for is something like Steele Marcoux's sofa, which I first discovered via Fran:
That means you can count on seeing an oversized lumbar pillow on this sofa in the future.
Stay tuned for more developments!
Can't wait!! That is going to be just delicious!! :)

Yummy!! I love velvet. Once again, I could move right in (of course, I don't think you want a family of four squatting in your LR). Love the blue velvet and it will look beautiful with that waterfall skirt with pleat. So pretty. Please don't make your lumbar too tall or we'll miss seeing the beautiful tufting! Cannot wait to see it all done!
ReplyDeleteoh exciting! i love a good velvet sofa! i would also love to see this sofa sans the skirt! but either way - i bet it wiill look great!
ReplyDeleteLoving all the house updates, Ash. Glad you are going with the blue. I'm doing the same thing with a client.
