Hey, JCP. I'm Digging Your Style.

Let me be the first to admit: I can't believe I'm writing about the stylish offerings from JC Penney because, truthfully, the store never had many products that appealed to me. Sure, I remember loving to study each page of their huge paper catalog as a kid, but that was a long time ago.

Yet, with a new visionary leader in Ron Johnson, the once-ugly duckling of a brand has emerged this spring like a swan. Only a few days into the spring, this season's goods are colorful, exciting, and attention-grabbing. We should take a look at them, no?

JC Penney was kind of like Rachel Leigh Cook in "She's All That"--desperately in need of a makeover to appeal to a new crowd. With the help a fresh perspective, the store is showing off a brand new look that has everyone talking...even if Freddie Prinze, Jr. isn't involved.

New CEO Ron Johnson, the man formerly behind the retail operations at Apple and Target, has re-imagined the 100+ year old brand and embraced high-end designers (like Jonathan Adler, Michael Graves, Duro Olowu and Pantone) at the traditional Penney's price point. A quick search on the website yielded surprisingly chic items that I'd love to see more of:

Color me impressed. Those are at least 20 reasons to give JC Penney another look.

Have any of you stepped into a JC Penney lately?
Do you think you'll be more likely to check out JCP with its fresh, revived approach?

  1. Girl you are in good company. I just did a piece on my favorite save shopping places and JCP was on there. Omg. Hilarious. It was almost embarrassing but I have to say, Penney's is rocking it. Can't believe those two words just went into the same sentence...

  2. You know what is even crazier, they've got some not bad clothes there too and CHEAP! I went into the store to check out the Jonathan Adler stuff, which they didn't have in store, but they did have some pretty cute clothes for spring. And the prices were just as cheap as Target and better quality. The hubs makes fun of me that I'm going to start buying 'smart slacks from Pennys.' :)

  3. They are totally killing it lately- in the past they have been so boring and lame and UGLY. But lately I have been loving what I've been seeing online. I need to place an order for something soon!
