I am a Yankee lady through and through, born in Connecticut and now living in Philadelphia, but I have recently discovered an deep appreciation for a certain Southern belle. It appears that there are lots of inspiring designs being produced below the Mason-Dixon.
Of course, I'm talking about Southern Living magazine. Like my love for Country Living before it, I have been pleasantly surprised at the homes featured in this publication. Each seems so beautifully composed...and don't get me started on the choice fabrics each room seems to contain.
But, it wasn't until Caroline posted this image recently that my love for our Southern friends was cemented:
Isn't this room gorgeous?
How about a few more Southern spaces for your Thursday?

After all of this evidence that there are beautiful things happening in the south, are you contemplating checking out Southern Living more often?

I know!! That first pic is now in my favs file!! Love it. The wallpaper and green velvet make me happy!
ReplyDeleteOh, this made me smile!! Take care, Caroline
ReplyDeleteI am! I don't pick that one up too often, but I'm thinking I should now.
ReplyDeleteTraditional with a twist -- love it! Absolutely love a pocket door, especially in a bathroom.
ReplyDeleteI used to subscribe to SL, after Cottage Living went under, but decided it didn't feel right being a Yank and getting Southern Living. Weird, yes, but true. Shoot, maybe we should start a North East version:)
ReplyDeleteI'm a Californian through and through but I have always been jealous of Southern charm and style. You have just convinced me. I'm going to get a subscription. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWe love that first image. It is in this month Southern Living?
ReplyDeleteAww, Ashley, thanks for the shout out to my blog and the South in general! It's refreshing to hear someone speak so favorably about our neck of the woods (we're often maligned for our deep-fried food and thick accents). I must admit, Southern Living has come a long way in the recent past. My mother used to get me a subscription but we let it lapse because, well, SL seemed a little, er, antiquated. But, I definitely need to start it up again as editor Lindsay Bierman has brought SL into the modern day!
ReplyDeleteHi Chic Coles ladies--yes, it is from December's SL. Isn't it lovely?
ReplyDeleteI love just about every home ever featured in Southern Living.
ReplyDeleteWow, some of these spaces are really not bad at all! I remember that SL was the only decor mag we ever had at home, and I would always read it cover to cover, b/c I had to swap it out for the Speigel catalog for stuff to look at...and it was always so stuffy to me! I didn't realize they had loosened up.
ReplyDeleteAwe - thanks for the mention! Some of these images are my favorites for sure.
ReplyDeleteI realized about a year ago, I was missing out on Southern style and I did subscribe. It's great inspiration and lots of times a fresh new perspective. Thanks for featuring! I'm pinning a few of these images.
